• Ruben Perczek

    Ruben Perczek is committed to redefining what we consider possible. A licensed doctor in clinical psychology, he is the founder of Perczek, an organization that seeks to contribute to a healthier, more joyful world through a balance of unprecedented achievement and embodied humility. Born in Colombia, Ruben was a highly successful international tennis player until the age of 21. When he was 15, he emigrated to the United States to further his education and go on to a professional athlete’s career. After earning multiple degrees from the University of California–Irvine, Ruben received his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Miami, where he also served as assistant professor in the School of Medicine. He completed his post-doctoral work in the field of integral medicine at Stanford University Medical School. For the last 20 years, Ruben has been a student of the world’s wisdom traditions, with an emphasis on meditation, mindfulness awareness practice, and embodiment practices. He currently consults internationally with high performing individuals, teams and institutions. His services focus on developing the capacity for peak performance under pressure, cultivating the space for unprecedented achievement and transforming leadership in all sectors of society.     Wendy Palmer is one of the world's leading experts in the field of Somatic Intelligence.     Larry Dressler has dedicated most of his life to understanding how people work out their differences, discover common ground, and mobilize collective action. As the founder of Blue Wing Consulting he helps organizations and communities throughout the word tackle their toughest challenges through skillful collaboration and mindful leadership. Larry has consulted with companies in a wide array of industries, including Cisco Systems, Baxter Health Care, Starbucks, New Belgium Brewing, and Nissan Motors. He has also worked extensively with government agencies like the Federal Protective Services, and not-for-profit organizations including 1% for the Planet and the Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Referred to by one client as a “gentle instigator of breakthrough conversations,” Larry’s work has taken him well beyond the typical executive boardrooms and retreat centers. He has assisted a response team at an industrial disaster site, led a strategic planning process in a warehouse on LA’s Skid Row, and facilitated a new product think tank at a solar-powered chocolate factory in the Amazon rainforest. Larry is the author of Consensus Through Conversation: How to Achieve High Commitment Decisions, selected in 2006 by Training & Development Magazine as one of the year’s top ten books. His new book is entitled Standing in the Fire: Leading High-Heat Meetings with Clarity, Calm, and Courage.

  • Elissa S. Epel

    Elissa S. Epel, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCSF. She studied psychology and psychobiology at Pitzer College, Stanford University (1990, BA) and then clinical and health psychology at Yale University (PhD, 1997). In her research and teaching, she focuses on the role that stress and lifestyle factors have on health and longevity. She is the Assistant Director of the Center for Health and Community, a center promoting interdisciplinary research, a faculty member for several postdoctoral training programs - the Robert Wood Johnson Health and Society Scholar program on population health, the NIMH Psychology and Medicine Fellowship, and the Osher Center Integrative Medicine Fellowship. She is involved in several clinical trials, where she helps examine how various psychological and behavioral interventions affects stress pathways and cell aging. She is a founder and a director of the new UCSF Center for Obesity Assessment, Study, and Treatment (COAST), which focuses on how socio-economic status and stress pathways play a role in the obesity epidemic. Epel has received several awards from the American Psychological Association, for her work conducted as a student (1996, 1998), as a junior investigator (2005), and recently received the APA Early Career Award (2008). She is involved in several initiatives to increase well-being and human health through her consulting.
